GAMING HEADPHONES

Low-Tier

Building a gaming PC: The headphones
These headsets are a good starting point to enhance the audio experience in your games.
SteelSeries Siberia 4H – Rs. 2,148 (Headset)
The Siberia 4H offers great bang for the buck. This is a simple headset with acoustic qualities tuned for gaming, including a good mic to communicate with your teammates in-game. The 4H isn’t ideal for music, but that’s a trade-off you’ll have to stomach at this price.

SteelSeries Siberia V1 – Rs. 3,360 (Headset)
The Siberia V1 is the younger sibling to one of the most popular gaming headsets, the Siberia V2. It is similar to the V2 in sound; the major differences are the added comfort and the retractable mic of the V2. With no gimmicky features, the Siberia V1 is a simple, good sounding gaming headset.
Corsair Raptor HS30 – Rs. 3,380 (Headset)
Corsair’s Raptor line of headsets focuses on only the essentials. The HS30 comes equipped with a noise-cancelling microphone and a comfortable design. This headset has an analog connection, so if you’re looking for USB instead, you could look at the 7.1 sound HS40 model.

Mid-Tier

Building a gaming PC: The headphones
As you move up in price range, you also move up in quality, and once you’ve sampled good quality audio, there’s no going back. Considering the price and performance on offer here, these headphones/headsets will be the sweet spot for a large section of gamers.
Razer Kraken – Rs. 4,500 (Headphones); with-mic variant – Razer Kraken Pro – Rs. 6,585
The Razer Kraken is great if you want to enjoy music and gaming on-the-go. It features a foldable design, making it easy to carry. The headphones come without a microphone, but if that’s a necessity, you could opt for the Kraken Pro instead, which comes with a mic, but also at a price premium.
Corsair Vengeance 1400 – Rs. 5,435 (Headset)
The Vengeance line is Corsair’s answer to high quality gaming headphones from brands like Razer. The Vengeance 1400 and Vengeance 1500 are similar, except the Vengeance 1500 features a USB soundcard and costs more. The 1400 features an analog connection, memory foam earpads for comfort over extended periods of wear, and a noise-cancelling mic. And it sounds pretty good too.
SteelSeries Siberia V2 – Rs. 6,295 (Headset)
As we mentioned before, the Siberia V2 is one of most popular gaming headsets available in the market. It’s got higher quality earpads than the cheaper V1, making it ideal over lengthy gaming sessions. Also, unlike the V1, it has a retractable microphone instead of an inline mic.

Top-Tier

Building a gaming PC: The headphones
The headsets below are some of the best available in the market. While the headset itself won’t take you to victory, it’ll most definitely deliver a more immersive gaming experience.
Razer Tiamat 2.2 – Rs. 8,499 (Headset)
The Razer Tiamat is a unique entrant in the gaming headsets segment. It packs in two separate subwoofers on each side, delivering stronger base than you’d expect from a headset. To add to that, there’s an inbuilt mic and inline volume controls, so pretty much everything you could want from a gaming headset.
SteelSeries 7H – Rs. 8,625 (Headset)
The SteelSeries 7H is well known in gaming circles for its sound quality and durability. The headset can also be disassembled, making it ideal when travelling and gaming on-the-go. If the fit and comfort are to your liking, this headset presents a safe bet.
Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless – Rs. 12,760 (Headset)
This is one of the two wireless headsets on our list, but the Vengeance 2000 Wireless can be used in wired or wireless mode. It supports 5.1/7.1 surround sound, and comes equipped with memory foam earpads, like the Vengeance 1400/1500. The wireless drivers can only be used on PC as of now, so no Mac support.

Enthusiast

Building a gaming PC: The headphones
These headphones are the cream of the crop. If you’re not limited by a budget, then neither of these will leave any room for disappointment in sound quality. However, with price tags such as these, you’d be advised to do your research before zeroing in on one. Most importantly, make sure you try them on to see how comfortable they are (although we’d generally advise that for all headphones).
Roccat Kave XTD Digital 5.1 – Rs. 17,750 (Headset)
Unlike most surround sound headsets, which have virtual 5.1 surround sound, the Roccat Kave XTD Digital has true 5.1 surround sound. Yes, it actually has three drivers per earcup. So when you’re gaming, you’ll actually know which sound is coming from where. With all necessary gaming features, and others like Bluetooth pairing with your phone to take calls on-the-fly, this one won’t disappoint in any department. Do test the sound before you buy though because true 5.1 sound in headphones is a love-or-hate concept.
Creative Sound Blaster Tactic3D Omega Wireless (Cross-platform) – Rs. 18,700 (Headset)
It’s no secret that Creative makes great audio products, and if you game on multiple platforms, then this headset is sure to impress. The Tactic3D Omega wireless headset is compatible with PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, unlike many other wireless headsets that are only PC compatible. This headset comes equipped with comfortable earpads, a good quality mic, and all necessary gaming features.
Sennheiser G4ME ZERO – Rs. 19,992 (Headset)
Sennheiser is one of the top headphone/headset manufactures in the market, and the G4ME ZERO is its current flagship gaming headset. This is a simple headset that does the basics well - great sound and a quality noise-cancelling microphone. Nothing more; nothing less. It costs a premium, which can be hard to justify since many of the gaming features found in other headsets are missing here, but if all you care about is sound quality, it might be worth considering.
